Friends of Nantucket Public Schools - "Community, Cooperation, Commitment"
About Us

Mission Statement
We are an organization of parents, teachers and community members whose purpose is to promote quality education for the children of Nantucket's public schools.

To that end, we develop goals and strategies annually, including our major fundraising events, including the Christmas Stroll House Tour, the Spelling Bee and Celebrity Softball Game.  Our fund raising  efforts allows us to contribute funds for progams, materials and support to the island public schools. These efforts and volunteers who who carry out our programs  are truly the backbone of our organization.

Our History
Started  in the early 1980s by Charron "Corky" Ranney, a mother of five and a new arrival to life on Nantucket,  the Friends has been serving to keep parents involved in the Nantucket public school system for over thirty years. During that time we have seen our board grow and change in many different ways. As a result, have developed an organization well suited to Nantucket; an organization that strives to recognize the need for change and  flexibility and that always strives to be creative when it comes to meeting the needs of Nantucket's public school students. Our original slogan " More than a PTA" sums up the belief that we as an organization are willing to meet any needs of our school system as they arise. We can be anything our schools need us to be.
