Flocking Flamings
For a donation of $20 (20 birds), $45 (40 birds), or $85 (80 birds) a flock of pink flamingos will mysteriously appear at the home, business, or lawn of your favorite family member, friend, business colleague, or whomever.

Worried someone may "flock" you?? No problem - you can purchase anti-flocking insurance for only $25. To participate, fill out the attached form and send it to us! We've gotten a fabulous response to this creative fundraiser. See flyer.

Fall
Bike-a-Thon
Each Fall  we  host our annual  Bike-a-Thon! Parents, children, community members of all ages can join the Friends as we "Roll the Rock" and raise additional funds for our Staff Initiated Funding program. Check this website next fall for date and time.   Please contact the FONPS administrative office for more details.

The Holiday House Tour
The house tour takes place during Stroll Weekend which is always the first full weekend in December. The House Tour features a small group of lovely Nantucket homes on display within the historic core district. Each home is spectacularly decorated for the holidays by a professional decorator, or in some cases the home owner, and strollers are allowed to tour the first floor of each home. Homes range from the truly historic, to the historically updated, but this event is one of our most popular and has a tremendous following. We are headed into our 26th year with the house tour.

Once strollers have seen each home, they can make their way down to the Nantucket Historical Association's Whaling Museum for warm refreshments and a lovely sample of a cappella singing by Nantucket's own, award-winning Accidentals and Naturals, a group of truly talented Nantucket public school students.

Tickets can be purchased via our website home page  the Chamber o Commerce, and Visitors' Services, or by calling our administrative offices at 508-228-5269. You can advance order your tickets using a MC, VISA or AMEX. All sales are final.

Winter
The Annual Spelling Bee
And what kind of supporters of education would the Friends be without the Spelling Bee?? The Bee takes place after the holiday season, in early February, and features a wonderful opportunity for the community to get together in the winter. Teams of three compete for the ultimate speller award and range from students to businesses to non-for-profits - and everyone gets into the act!

While teams are competing, the high school culinary arts students put on a show of their own in the cafeteria, providing a warm "home-cooked" meal with dessert and drinks. It is a great opportunity for community members to visit the school and see what the kids are up to.

Also during the competition, there is a n auction of unique items and other fun events.  It is a great opportunity to support the Friends while enjoying some really amazing local artistry and creativity.

Admission is FREE

Spring
NES Dance Event
This is a FREE springtime event for Elementary School children. The Dance Hop is held in the NES Gym and decorated in the style of a selected theme.  This event is simply a way to usher in spring and give the younger kids a special event of their own. It is loud, it is messy, it is hot and it is a tremendous amount of fun, is completely adorable and is entirely volunteer based. The event provides parents with a chance to have some traditional fun with their elementary aged children.
